For almost 100 years, the Casa Ruiz family has been growing some of the finest coffees that Panama has to offer in the highlands near Boquete. Geisha is the finest of these Panamanian coffees - indeed, it is now one of the finest in the world!  The Geisha varietal was introduced to Panama from Costa Rica in the 1960's as a tree that was resistant to leaf rust. The plant failed to thrive in the low lands of Panama, however, once introduced to its high altitudes, the climate and soil was much better suited for the Geisha plants than Costa Rica's. In the high altitudes the Geisha plant grew tall and elegant, with elongated leaves and fruit, quickly catching the attention of international judges and coffee experts. It continues to impress today, with a flavor and aroma quite unlike anything else throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

    • enjoyed every sip! my first first sips were straight black coffee slightly cooled. the first sip gave me a bright citrus start with a mellow, smooth finish. I usually drink my coffee with half & half so I added a splash to my coffee. It brought out even better cup of coffee. the smooth, mellow finish took on a creamy texture from the cream and the bright citrus profile held its own and opened up even more. It reminded me of a creamsicle without the sugar.
